It’s review time! On this #dramadventure we are tasting and reviewing The Glenturret 10 year Peat Smoked. Oh wow this one surprise me! (In a really good way).
Specs – It comes in at 48.4% ABV, is non-chill filtered and natural colour.
Nose – I absolutely love the nose on this. Smoke for days and I love it. This is a heavy peat smoke with notes of smoked meats, bbq meats, and bacon 🥓. The smoke is like when you have a campfire going all night and it’s down to the coals smouldering with all the heat and smoke. So good. Still some sweetness to it. Toasted honey maple. Really great all around. 17/20
Palate – the smoke show continues on the palate. Ashy Smokey bacon. This is oily and meaty. Just a beautiful mouthfeel. It’s earthy, toasted malt, honey toffee. It also has a little pepper, little ginger. But it’s got the meats! There also might be some leathery / tobacco notes in there as well. Great palate. 40/50
Finish – ashy smokey finish. The meats fade nicely into the background and you’re left with a nice smoke peppery finish. I wouldn’t say it’s a super long finish, but being this heavy of a dram it sticks around long enough. 15/20
Bottle – love this bottle. So much you could even keep if after and use it as a decanter. Beautiful. 5/5
Value – at $90 CAD. It’s amazing value for that price. Craft presented and this good. I was going to give it a 4 but really it is amazing value in today’s prices. 5/5
Overall – do I recommend this bottle? Yes, every day of the week! This is a great bottle to pick up. If you are a peat head like myself you will absolutely love this one. This is adventure worthy!
