Tonight’s Dram Adventure is the Old Pulteney 15 year old.

It’s review time! Tonight’s #dramadventure is the Old Pulteney 15 year old. I don’t often reach for the Old Pulteney but when I do I’m always pleasantly surprised by it.

Specs – it comes in at 46% ABV it is natural colour and it is non-chill filtered. What we like to see!

Nose – very crisp apples and pears right away. Very much that classic malty nose, creamy honey, grains and cereals. Vanilla and toffee. This was an easy and delicate nose but still stood out. Very pleasant. 15/20

Palate – again more crisp apples and pears with loads of ginger. Some all spice and vanilla caramel. I would almost say like a werther’s original hard candy. Very well balanced and a really nice creamy mouthfeel. This dram has some richness. 38/50

Finish – it has a nice medium finish that almost leads to a spiced rum flavour. Of course there are caramel and ginger as well. Nice finish 14/20

Bottle – there is something I really like about these bottles and the brand as well. Not perfect but I really like the look. 4/5

Value – you can get this at $110 CAD and for a 15 year old that is great value. For what you get this is a buy for me… not sure why it’s not a perfect 5/5 but today I’m giving this a strong 4/5

Overall – man the Old Pulteney is not usually on everyone’s radar but it is really good. I could sit with dram all night, it’s a really easy dram but still gives you enough to think about. For me this is absolutely adventure worthy!
