The Bruichladdich 18 Year Old. I was really pumped when I was able to pick this one up. I got it for $230 CAD… was it worth it? Let’s find out.

This comes in at 50% ABV. And is natural colour and non chilled filtered. Awesome so far! And 18 year old at 50%… yes please.

Nose – this is fresh and balanced on the nose. First pass I wouldn’t guess this has been aged for 18 years. I get sweet honey, malt and dusty wheat fields. Big fresh fruits, apples, pears & peaches. Such a creaminess to the nose. Then there is the sour, ginger with a little funky dusty barn. And a hint of farmy funk. Love this nose. 17/20

Palate – wow. Some much going on, but it’s all in perfect harmony. This is so fruity and balanced with a hint of sourdough bread. Also for 50% this is not sharp in anyway. Then I get some very nice tropical fruits but a lot of peach juice. Buttery, oily and creamy. Very nice. 43/50.

Finish – I would describe this as a medium to long finish. This is beautiful. Oily and buttery all the way to the end with a sweet and sour hit. This makes me want to take another sip. But so nice to let linger on the palate and just take in. Great finish. 18/20.

Bottle – a complete masterclass on branding and labeling. This bottle and the packaging is absolutely stunning. The typography on this bottle is so perfect for the brand if I could I’d give this a six out of five. Pinnacle of bottles. 5/5

Value – I struggle with this. Such a good drama you will not be disappointed in anyway for purchasing this but is it a steal of a deal? If it was under $200 CAD I would say yes but at $230 this for me is a strong 3. It’s priced exactly what I think it’s worth and I feel $230 cad is fair value.

Overall – this is an amazing experience and if you have the opportunity to pick this up, this is 💯 adventure worth!
